About the Data Analytics Intern position:

The Analytics Intern will collaborate with senior BI Analysts and Data Engineers, gain exposure to real-world problems and tickets, and assist in our migration efforts from legacy systems to modern technology platforms. Documentation of work and attention to detail are essential components of this position.

This position is eligible for remote work, but travel to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida may be requested during the assignment. 

Data Analytics Intern  Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineers and analysts, gaining exposure to real-world problems and tickets
• Assist with the migration of PowerBI dashboards to Tableau
• Write and validate SQL queries for various data transformation and validation
• Complete impact analysis projects to understand the implications of changes to configurations and policy adoptions
• Gain hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, modern data engineering tools

Data Analytics Intern  Minimum Qualifications: 

• 1 3 years' experience in management information systems, analytics, data engineering or equivalent education
• Working towards Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or statistics; or 2+ years' equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience writing in SQL 
• Experience with modern reporting dashboards (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, or similar tools)
• Analytical and interpretation skills, ability to review data and gain insight 
• Ability to apply knowledge gained from one project to subsequent projects

Data Analytics Intern  Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience writing in Python
• Experience with Snowflake 
• Knowledge of healthcare claims data
