Overview & Responsibilities
The Fractional CFO Consultant provides strategic financial leadership to small and mid-sized business clients who need CFO-level guidance without a full-time, in-house executive. This role partners directly with business owners and leadership teams to improve financial clarity, strengthen processes, support growth, and guide strategic decision-making. The Fractional CFO Consultant serves as a trusted advisor, delivering high-level financial insight while collaborating closely with internal accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate execution and compliance.
- Serve as a fractional CFO for assigned clients, acting as a strategic financial partner to ownership and executive teams
- Provide financial leadership around budgeting and forecasting, cash flow planning and management, financial modeling and scenario analysis, KPI development and financial reporting
- Advise clients on accounting structure, internal controls, and process improvements
- Support business planning, growth initiatives, and strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with internal accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate, timely financial information
- Review and interpret financial statements, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support tax planning strategies in coordination with tax professionals
- Participate in client onboarding and ongoing advisory meetings
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to expand advisory services where appropriate
- Uphold SIMA’s standards for professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality, and client service

Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field from an accredited university required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, advisory, or CFO-level consulting
- Demonstrated experience working directly with business owners or executive teams
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow management, and business operations
- Experience with QuickBooks and similar accounting systems required
- Experience with tax planning and coordination with tax preparation teams preferred

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
- Work is performed in an office environment and constantly operates a computer, keyboard, and mouse in addition to other office equipment such as copy machine, computer printer, calculator, etc.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- Occasionally moves office equipment weighing up to 25 pounds for various office needs
