Primary Purpose
Be the critical link that keeps Parkland Health safe. As a Public Safety Communications Dispatcher, you’ll receive and coordinate service calls, dispatch officers, and support emergency response efforts to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, and facilities across Parkland Health.
What You’ll Do
- Receive, document, and prioritize requests for service or assistance and dispatch officers to provide appropriate response
- Monitor and manage emergency systems, including fire alarms, CCTV, and access controls
- Operate National and State Criminal Information Network (NCIC/TCIC) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Support supervisors with access authorization information to prevent unauthorized entry
- Communicate clearly and calmly during emergency and high-pressure situations
- Track and report equipment issues and initiate repair requests as needed
- Maintain accurate records and distribute confidential information to appropriate leadership
- Stay current on public safety procedures, communication technologies, and applicable laws and regulations

- Working knowledge of personal computers and communication systems

Requirements
- Must pass an extensive background investigation
- Must pass a pre-employment polygraph
Requirements
Education
- High school graduate or GED.
Experience
- Prefer previous law enforcement experience.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
- None
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Must obtain within one year from date of hire or placement in role Basic Telecommunications Certification from the State of Texas.
