Description
Overview:
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher skilled in biogeochemistry who will contribute to mercury remediation technology development program, specifically focusing on how environmental variables and remediation activities affect mercury bioavailability and bioaccumulation. This position resides in the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health in the Biodiversity and Sustainable Systems Section, Environmental Sciences Division, Biological & Environmental Systems Science at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design experiments and perform laboratory investigations with inorganic mercury and methylmercury.
- Acquire and analyze data using a range of analytical instrumentation.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records.
- Prepare oral and written reports.
- Publish and present research results in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in environmental science, environmental chemistry, civil/environmental engineering, biogeochemistry, biology or related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience in laboratory environment.
- Ability to articulate a research plan with defined goals and sound experimental design. Prioritize a safe work environment and comply with all ES&H regulations.
- A proven publication record and ability to produce research to a high publication standard
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
