Position Details
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Project Manager to lead complex, strategic projects within our Global Ad Technology Supervisory Department. This role is pivotal in driving the end-to-end delivery of key advertising products, platforms, and initiatives that will redefine how brands engage with consumers across Rakuten's global ecosystem.
In this role, you will navigate intricate technical and business challenges, orchestrate cross-functional teams distributed across our global locations, and manage diverse stakeholder expectations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Specifically, as a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the full project lifecycle from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, control, and closure for complex advertising technology projects.
- Defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with product, engineering, business, and other stakeholders.
- Developing and managing detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for global teams.
- Proactively identifying and mitigating risks and issues, implementing effective resolution strategies to keep projects on track.
- Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, product, data science, sales, legal).
- Providing regular, transparent project status updates to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Driving continuous process improvement within project execution and contributing to best practices for the department.

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- 7 years of progressive experience in Project Management, with a significant portion managing complex software development or ad technology projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, cross-functional projects on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile Scrum/Kanban, Waterfall, Hybrid) and relevant tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana, Microsoft Project).
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate distributed, global teams effectively.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse cultures and seniority levels.
- Experience in the AdTech, MarTech, or e-commerce industry is highly preferred.
- PMP, CSM, or other relevant project management certifications are a strong plus.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required due to the global nature of our teams.
