Description:

Behringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join the Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT.

As an employee of Boehringer Ingelheim, you will actively contribute to the discovery, development, and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. Our global presence provides opportunity for all employees to collaborate internationally, offering visibility and opportunity to directly contribute to the companies' success. We realize that our strength and competitive advantage lie with our people. We support our employees in a number of ways to foster a healthy working environment, meaningful work, diversity and inclusion, mobility, networking and work-life balance. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees

As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for applying cutting-edge LC/MS technology for investigational purposes of protein therapeutics and new modalities. LC/MS investigations may include assessing in vivo critical quality attributes (CQA), such as variant analysis, glycoform analysis and biotransformation (e.g. deamidation, oxidation). Additional areas of investigations include mechanistic investigations using LC/MS to support new biotherapeutic modalities (eg viral vectors); immunocapture-LC/MS quantitation of biotherapeutics, protein biomarkers; oligonucleotide metabolite profiling, and anti-id antibody and reagent characterization by LC/MS. You will collaborate across different disciplines to study in vivo stability of therapeutic proteins and biomarker LC/MS assay development and quantitation to support nonclinical and clinical development. You will evaluate and interpret experimental data and contribute toward the advancement of applications of LC/MS for biologics drug development.  You will stay abreast of the new advancements in the fields of bioanalysis and pharmacokinetics and collaborate both internally and externally. You are expected to propose and implement new techniques, effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects, and implement strategies to reach predetermined milestones and achieve R&D and corporate goals.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement new LC/MS technologies within the field in vivo CQA (critical quality attributes) of biologics, and biotransformation of therapeutic proteins and other new modalities.

Conduct studies on in vivo protein variant/glycoform/biotransformation studies, intact mass analysis, peptide mapping, in vivo/in vitro protein stability and generate information for enhancing understanding of biochemical and in vivo properties of development drug candidates.

Develop immunocapture-LC/MS assays for quantitation of protein biomarkers and perform sample analysis.

Conduct oligonucleotide metabolite profiling, identification and quantitation.

Operate liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) instrumentation, including maintenance and troubleshooting.

Develop an understanding of R&D team goals and work effectively toward achieving them, represent DMPK on Drug Development Teams.

Keep abreast of relevant literature and develop visibility outside of functional area and externally.

Communicate results and data interpretation through oral presentations and written documents to other DMPK colleagues, multidisciplinary project teams, and management.

Comply with all applicable regulations; ensure that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; maintain proper records in accordance with corporate SOPs and policies.

Requirements

Ph.D. earned from an accredited institution in biochemistry or other relevant field, with significant hands-on experiences in LC/MS analysis of proteins and other new modalities.

Competency with LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, HRMS, HDX instrumentation.

A fundamental understanding of protein chemistry and familiarity with handling of proteins and biologics.

Experience with mass spectrometry software (Analyst, Xcalibur, and other protein data processing software).

Post-doctoral experience (up to 2 years for sr. scientist) would be advantageous.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an interdisciplinary environment.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
