Role Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the execution and sustainment of Enterprise Data Governance processes, with a focus on Data Governance IT Controls, metadata management, and governance tool enablement. The role partners with business and IT stakeholders to drive data quality, compliance, and visibility across Critical Data Domains using platforms such as Alation, LeanIX, and Power BI.
What You Will Do:
- Support the execution and ongoing maintenance of Data Governance IT Controls, including monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Develop, maintain, and update Data Governance IT Control work instructions, including alignment to control objectives and evidence requirements
- Maintain and update Data Governance processes to align with enterprise policies, standards, and evolving business needs
- Analyzing customer requirements based on the understanding of conformed models and catering solutions that are implementable and maintainable.
- Discerning data accuracies in large sets of data of diverse formats.
- Researching, designing, and documenting data specifications at all points in the production life cycle.
- Maintain IT Controls and employ analytics to assess organization's technical performance and make system enhancement recommendations.
- Facilitate the creation, update, and governance of business terms, data elements, and business data quality rules
- Support and maintain Alation workflows aligned to data governance processes
- Support the implementation and sustainment of the Enterprise Data Product Catalog within Alation.
- Summarize and simplify techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
What You Will Have:
- Experience in data governance, data management, or related discipline
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and IT control concepts. Experience working with data governance or metadata management tools
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience. Experience supporting IT controls, audits, or compliance processes
- Tool Enablement: Experience with Alation, LeanIX, and/or similar enterprise tools. Experience developing reports using Power BI or similar tools. Understanding of data quality frameworks and metadata management practices
- Communication: Contributes to project team communication regarding the linkage of a change initiative to its associated business goals and case. Experience working with and presenting to leadership, business partners, and IT organizations, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and drive alignment across stakeholder groups
- Information Management: Knowledge of an organization's existing and planned Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology. Experience working across business and IT organizations
Additional Details:
- This position is enterprise facing and requires strong collaboration across business and technical teams with a focus on Data Governance.
- This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Peoria, ILL, Irving, Texas or Chicago, ILL.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
