What We're Looking For:
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Firmware / Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be the bridge between system specifications and product quality, ensuring our complex hardware and software systems interact flawlessly. If you have a passion for "under-the-hood" diagnostics, behavior-driven design, and building robust automation frameworks from the ground up, we want you on our team!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive Quality from Day One: Partner proactively with system architects, product managers, and developers to analyze specifications and uncover hidden edge cases before a single line of code is written.
Design & Automate: Take an "automation-first" approach. Design, write, and scale clean, reusable automated test frameworks and integrate them directly into our CI/CD pipelines.
Ensure Full Coverage: Translate complex requirements into robust manual and automated test scenarios (both happy-path and edge-case) and maintain full traceability.
Troubleshoot & Diagnose: Act as a technical detective to isolate, diagnose, and troubleshoot complex firmware/software defects by meticulously analyzing log files and system behavior.
Own the Process: Take independent initiative on test assignments, document results in automated data-driven dashboards, and proactively suggest process or tooling enhancements to optimize team efficiency.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
5+ years of relevant software engineering experience (or 3+ years of experience with an Advanced Degree).
Equivalency: Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Technical & Automation Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python (or similar object-oriented scripting languages) with a track record of writing robust automated test code and utilizing debugging/performance optimization tools.
Systems Engineering & Architecture: Hands-on familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded systems, hardware-software integration, system-level programming, and software design patterns.
DevOps & Tooling: Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines.
Emerging Technologies: Ability to evaluate and integrate new tech, including adopting GenAI in the Software Development Lifecycle.
Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical mindset with a passion for understanding complex hardware-software interactions and developing innovative solutions.
Collaboration & Leadership: Excellent communication skills. Experienced in mentoring junior team members, collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams, and engaging with external stakeholders.
Self-Management: Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of feature validations, and effectively manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
