Description
Owatonna Public Utilities (OPU) provides electricity, water and natural gas to the Owatonna, Minnesota community and is seeking an experienced, visionary leader to serve as our next General Manager/CEO. The General Manager/CEO reports to an appointed board of commissioners and is responsible for executing all board policies and directives. Under broad policy guidance from the Owatonna Public Utilities Commission, the General Manager is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the utilities and OPU’s strategic plan. Establishes current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies for the utilities. Plans and directs the operations of the utilities to maintain a competitive position in the delivery of safe and reliable electric, water and natural gas commodities to its customers.
Requirements
Education: A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, engineering, finance or equivalent is required. A Master of Business Administration is desired.
Experience: Five (5) to ten (10) years in senior level management experience including operations, organizational management, strategic planning, and financial management in a municipal public utilities with more than one commodity is preferred.
Other: Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and have a personal commitment to providing excellent customer experience and service. In addition, experience in employee engagement, marketing and knowledge of engineering principles is a plus.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft teams.
