Postdoctoral Scientist – Embryology, Gamete Competence and Reproductive Aging
CCRM Fertility Research invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scientist position in reproductive biology with a strong focus on embryology, gamete competence, and reproductive aging.
The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms influencing gamete competence, embryonic development, and overall reproductive success in our aging society. This work will aim to generate translational insights that can support the development of improved strategies to enhance outcomes in human in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct independent and collaborative research studies using relevant animal models and human-derived research materials, as appropriate.
- Investigate early embryo development, molecular and cellular pathways, mitochondrial function, and mechanisms associated with reproductive aging.
- Perform and optimize advanced laboratory techniques, including embryo micromanipulation and molecular biology assays.
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate research findings through presentations, manuscripts, reports, and collaborative discussions.
- Contribute to a collegial, multidisciplinary laboratory environment and support the broader research mission of CCRM Fertility.
Qualifications
- PhD in Animal Science, Reproductive Biology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Research experience in animal models, molecular biology, mitochondrial biology/function, and embryo handling.
- Experience in micromanipulations (ICSI, biopsies) are highly desired.
- Strong ability to plan, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret independent research projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to collaborative, rigorous, and high-quality scientific research.

Requirements
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office and clinical setting with frequent use of medical instrumentation and equipment, supplies and materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, including computer keyboards and mice, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
The duties of this position involves an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills and splashes from them. Appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in these tasks. The duties of this position also involve occasionally exerting 75 pounds of force, and/or up to 35 pounds of force frequently.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; frequently stand and or walk; use hands and fingers to grasp, pick, pinch, type; and reach with arms and hands. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; operation of standard office machines and equipment.
