Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Rental Applications Engineer - Data Centers in Manassas, Virginia. The Rental Applications Engineer is responsible for engaging and collaborating with the rental sales teams and customers on complex power systems rental projects throughout the dealer territory; engage the CAT Rental Power dealer network for the re-rental of Carter rental fleet assets that are identified as underperforming by the rental sales manager. The individual in this position will travel as needed with power systems rental sales representatives in order to assist in customer development and the closing of rental sales opportunities.

Seeking candidates with a minimum three years of sales and projects experience, preferably in power generation and temperature control; College degree in related field.

Requirements for the Rental Applications Engineer position include:

• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
• Must have strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Must possess ability to maintain comprehensive project files and generate reports.
• Must be able to adapt to changing technology and maintain a high level of product/industry knowledge.
• Must have strong written, verbal and presenting skills with ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel within the organization and customers.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize work with competing demands.
• Must have an excellent driving record.
• Must be able to travel throughout and beyond territory. Frequent travel is required - overnight or out town via car or airplane.
• Must possess ability to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical requirements must be met for the Rental Applications Engineer job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
